Smart Home Automation Ecosystem

By Orisys Academy on 20th January 2024

Problem Statement

Traditional home automation systems may lack intelligence and seamless integration,
leading to suboptimal user experiences. This project aims to address these issues by
creating a comprehensive Smart Home Automation Ecosystem powered by AI.

Abstract

The Smart Home Automation Ecosystem project focuses on enhancing the intelligence
and integration of home automation systems. By incorporating AI-driven automation,
security features, and energy management, the system aims to provide users with a
holistic and user-friendly smart home experience. The ecosystem will learn user
preferences, optimize energy usage, and ensure a secure and convenient living
environment.

Outcome

● AI-driven Automation: Develop AI algorithms to learn user behavior and automate
routine tasks based on preferences.
● Security Integration: Implement AI-powered security features, including smart
surveillance and anomaly detection.
● Energy Management: Optimize energy usage by intelligently controlling heating,
cooling, lighting, and other appliances.
● User-Friendly Interface: Provide users with a centralized and intuitive interface for
controlling and monitoring smart home devices.
● Enhanced Comfort and Security: Ultimately, enhance user comfort, convenience,
and security within the smart home environment.

With the establishment of international of things (IOT) concept and the development of 5G, ipv6, etc., some companies or organizations are starting to put IOT into reality by embedding IOT chips and functions into furniture such as LED light and door security lock. Due to the size limit of the chips inside the furniture, only those chips with very basic specs can be used. Consequently, data collected by the sensors inside the furniture have to be uploaded to the cloud for calculation or analysis. Plus, people want to monitor and take control of their house even when they are out. As a result, cloud services such as IOT hub and servers must be deployed to make it possible for people to receive and send data from or to the house. However, IOT is a quite new concept. Its industry is still immature at present. Not all of the protocols are suitable for IOT devices, which forces companies to cope with those protocols in a very complex way in order to make a product which can be widely used. In this article, we summarize and discuss about the industry of IOT furniture and its mechanism, by giving a few examples to see the current ecosystem of IOT-related industry and the technical problems companies still need to face.
