The skills on communication, the way to excel

By Nayana B on 25th July 2022

It was a fun day for the students at Orisys  Academy on 19-07-2022 when there was a skill development and communication session by the Additional Skill Acquisition Programme (ASAP). The session was at the academy and was taken by Mr Sandeep P,  Soft Skill Trainer, ASAP. This was meant for a day session on communication and skill development which could help the trainees when they enter as professionals.

It is very important to become aware of your existing strengths and weaknesses, as well as the areas where you can work on your personal development. This was exactly the aim of the session as it started with a basic speaking activity by making them create a story of their own. The first response of the students was fine as they have responded well. Every student created their story and presented it in their own way.  The session was followed by the training for skills like observation, discussion and responses. For this there was a discussion and a situational response activity based on stress management.

In addition to communication skills, the training also covered the topics like listening, motivation and positive influence which could help the students during their professional life. The esteemed art of active listening will make them able to remember the messages communicated. The program thus offered an opportunity to learn how to present their ideas professionally. A basic teaching activity was also there as a part of presentation and communication skill training.

Building an effective team is vital in ensuring that an organisation maintains productivity despite the turbulence experienced within. This training made the students understand the need for teamwork. For this, he trained the students with some games and fun activities. The session concluded with a mock interview training which helped the students the same.

Overall the session was fun packed and informative. Students thoroughly enjoyed the session as they could participate well. It was a chance to develop a greater understanding of people’s differences, and to embrace these differences. The training offered the pupils a clear road map towards becoming a better worker, a better professionals.
